Dr. Chandrakanth Reddy Edamakanti, MS, Ph.D. was a Biotechnologist with 10 years of research experience in neurodegenerative, cancer, metabolic genetic disorders with 2 years of R & D experience in the biopharma industry. Highly skilled, goal-oriented, hard-working, organized, self-motivated, and a team player. My correct research interest is to study the Cellular and Molecular Basis of Neurodegenerative Movement Disorders. Goal: At least nine Polyglutamine (poly Q) neurodegenerative disorders caused by CAG repeat expansions that encode polyQ tracts in the mutant proteins. These diseases share a common mechanism of pathogenesis including progressive neurodegeneration and involvement of Purkinje cell atrophy.

A major puzzle in our understanding of adult-onset neurogenetic disorders is the fact that despite the presence of the mutation at birth it takes years for the clinical features of the disease to manifest. Lack of knowledge in this area has made it difficult to understand key steps in disease progression and pathogenesis, therefore, hampered our ability to develop biomarkers to monitor disease onset, progression and identify druggable avenues for intervention. My goal is to understand the molecular and transcriptional dysregulation that occurs before disease onset and develop novel therapeutic interventions and biomarkers for Polyglutamine disorders.
