Prof Cheah is a Consultant Haematologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Pathwest Laboratory Medicine WA, Linear Clinical Research, and Hollywood Private Hospital. He received his MBBS from the University of Western Australia in 2003 and completed post-graduate training in Clinical and Laboratory Haematology in Perth (Fremantle Hospital) and Melbourne. He completed Fellowships at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Melbourne, Australia) and MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, Texas, USA).
Prof Cheah is the lymphoma lead and Fellowship Program Director at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the Founder of Blood Cancer Research WA. His research interests are novel drug therapies and the prevention of CNS relapse in lymphomas. He has authored >100 peer-reviewed publications and attracted >10 million dollars in competitive grant funding and reviews for major journals in the field. He was awarded Cancer Council WA Early Career Cancer Researcher of the Year in 2018 and WA 40 under 40 awards in 2019.
He is passionate about improving access for Australian patients to novel lymphoma treatments and training the next generation of lymphoma researchers. He delights in his young family and enjoys running and cycling in his spare time.
