Dr. Chad Gordon is an associate professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery and neurological surgery and the director of neuroplastic and reconstructive surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Hospital. With advanced training in adult craniomaxillofacial surgery, his main area of clinical expertise includes neuroplastic surgery, which encompasses reconstructive surgery in the craniofacial region and complex skull reconstruction.
Dr. Gordon serves as both the co-director of the Multidisciplinary Adult Cranioplasty Center and co-director for the Johns Hopkins Fellowship in Neuroplastic and Reconstructive Surgery, alongside Dr. Judy Huang, professor of neurosurgery, and coordinates complex craniofacial reconstruction with a large group of dedicated neurosurgeons and multidisciplinary specialists at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
During his residency at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Gordon was involved in the country's first face transplant in December 2008 as a team surgeon and project coordinator. For his work related to the nation’s first face transplant, the Cleveland Clinic presented Dr. Gordon the Bruce Hubbard Stewart Memorial Award for Humanistic Medicine.
Dr. Gordon received his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency and research fellowship in general surgery at Cooper University Hospital and a residency in plastic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by a fellowship in adult craniomaxillofacial surgery at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital.
