Cecilia St. George-Hyslop is the Interprofessional Education Specialist in the Labatt Family Heart Centre’s Cardiac Critical Care Unit at the Hospital for Sick Children. She began her career as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and joined SickKids in 1990. After completing her Master's Degree in Education and BA Gen (Conc in Psych) at the University of Ottawa, Cecilia became an educator at SickKids in 1997. She has held leadership positions with The Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses (CACCN) including Paediatric Consultant President of the Toronto Chapter and President of the National Board of Directors. Cecilia has been a member of the Pediatric Intensive Care Society (PCICS) Education Committee and has collaboratively written a number of articles with nurses across the globe. Cecilia enjoys teaching her fellow colleagues about education, simulation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (i.e. Berlin Heart, Heartware), and pediatric cardiac critical care in general. She has had a long and healthy career at the Hospital for Sick Children and continues to enjoy teaching, learning, and mentoring.
