Dr. Catherine Flaitz is professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Pediatric Dentistry and former dean at The University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry at Houston. She is adjunct faculty at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, and faculty member of the Campus-wide Ethics Program, McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics, UT School of Medicine.

Flaitz earned her dental degree from Creighton University and received specialty certification and a Master of Science degree in pediatric dentistry, followed by specialty certification in oral and maxillofacial pathology from The University of Iowa. Flaitz is on the editorial boards of Pediatric Dentistry, Oral Diseases, Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and American Journal of Dentistry.
