Dr. Catherine Cooper, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health and a senior physician in the Department of Anesthesiology at the VCU School of Medicine. She holds key leadership roles as Director of the Stony Point Endoscopy Center and Co-Medical Director of the Gateway 4 Endoscopy Center—positions that reflect her administrative and clinical expertise in procedural anesthesia.

Dr. Cooper is board-certified in anesthesiology and maintains medical licensure in Virginia (and historically North Carolina). In addition to her academic title, she founded and continues to support the Preoperative Assessment, Communication and Education (PACE) Clinic at VCU Health, a dedicated perioperative service aimed at optimizing patients’ conditions before surgery.

Her educational background includes earning her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completing a transitional internship at Greenville Health System/University of South Carolina, and finishing her anesthesiology residency at the University of Virginia Health System—training that underpins her long career in anesthesia practice.
