Dr. Casandra Isabel Montoro Aguilar has a degree (2010) and a Ph.D. in Psychology (mentions: CumLaude, International and Extraordinary Doctorate Award) from the University of Jaén (UJA, 2016). In addition, she has a postgraduate degree in “Psychological Intervention in Clinical and Health Settings” with the consequent award for one of the best “Master's Thesis” (UJA, 2011). Throughout her professional career, Dr. Montoro has focused above all on the study of alterations at the level of the Central Nervous System and cognitive deficits in Fibromyalgia, being part of the work team of various research projects.
In addition, she has carried out research stays both at the pre-doctoral level (University of Michigan, Michigan, USA) and at the postdoctoral level. With respect to the latter, Dr. Montoro collaborated in 2017 on a research project focused on “Alterations in cerebral blood flow dynamics in chronic hypotension and unipolar affective disorder (depression), as well as their implications at a cognitive level.” (deficits in executive and attentional functions) at the “University for Health Sciences Medical Informatics and Technology” (Hall in Tirol, Austria). During this time, Dr. Montoro was a member of the project team “Changes in pain perception induced by transcranial electrical stimulation (Pain and brain plasticity: somatosensory and motor modulation; PSI2017-88388-C4-1-R) ”. Also during this period, she was an active collaborator of the “ACTIVA-TE” project (Impact of a multicomponent physical exercise program on people over 70 years of age; Palma de Mallorca City Council). As can be seen, Dr. Montoro's scientific career has been diverse, given the collaborations carried out.
