Carsten Schmidt MD

Carsten Oliver Schmidt is a professor at the Institute of Community Medicine at the University Medical Center Greifswald, where he is a deputy head of the SHIP/Clinical Epidemiology Research Department. He heads the functional division "Quality in Health Sciences" and the Transfer Unit for Data- and Biomaterials of the Research Network Community Medicine. His research focuses on methods and projects on research quality. This includes developments in metadata standards, quality management, data quality, and other research infrastructures. Research topics include musculoskeletal diseases and incidental MRI findings. He is very much engaged in national and international research networks such as the German NFDI4Health National Research Data Infrastructure for Personal Health Data, or the STRATOS (STRengthening Analytical Thinking for Observational Studies) initiative.
