Caroline Hurd, M.D., is a board-certified physician with Palliative Care Services at Harborview and director of education for UW’s Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence. She is also a UW assistant professor of Medicine and Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine. She has been named a Seattle magazine Top Doctor.
For Dr. Hurd, the field of palliative care is at the heart of what it means to be a doctor. She strives to get to know each patient as a person, beyond their illness, and understand their family and life at home. She believes it is her duty to be an advocate for her patients and their families.
Dr. Hurd earned her M.D. from UC San Francisco. She has a special interest in improving the curriculum for communication for all healthcare professionals and increasing access to high-quality medical care for the most vulnerable patients. She is the recipient of the Cambia Health Foundation’s national Sojourns Scholars Leadership Award.
