Carole was appointed Macmillan Nurse Consultant in Adult Palliative Care in July 2000 working across The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester Community Health. In February 2011, she took up a full time position at The Christie as Nurse Consultant and Clinical Lead in Palliative Care.

Carole qualified in 1988 since then she has worked in oncology and palliative care across primary, secondary and tertiary care and thus has a global perspective of developing and collaborating services to help meet the needs of patients and their carers.

She has a Masters in Medical Ethics in Palliative Care, a Masters in Management and Leadership and was one of the first cohorts to undertake non-medical prescribing. One of her main interests is translating strategy into clinical practice to make a real difference to patients.

Carole is an Editorial Board Member for the International Journal of Palliative Nursing and my published work includes articles on nursing leadership, non-medical prescribing, pain and symptom control, and communicating with dying patients. She is an experienced educator, regularly delivering sessions & presentations on undergraduate/postgraduate courses and conferences focussing on all aspects of specialist palliative and end of life care.
