Carol P. Curtiss MSN-RN-BC

Carol Curtiss, MSN, RN-BC is an internationally recognized speaker in oncology nursing, pain and symptom management, cancer survivorship, and palliative and end of life care. She has presented more than 1000 programs in 47 States in the U.S. and 11 countries outside of the U.S, and lectured at more than 40 national conferences and meetings. She is a clinical nurse specialist consultant in independent practice, with a focus on education and program development in pain and symptom management, palliative and end of life care and cancer survivorship. She is board certified in pain management nursing. She is past national president of the Oncology Nursing Society, and received the ONS Distinguished Service Award in 1999. She was awarded the June L. Dahl lectureship from the Alliance of State Pain Initiatives (ASPI) in 2003 and ASPI’s Distinguished Service Award in 2008. She is a member of the Editorial Board for Pain Management Nursing and is appointed as Master Faculty for the American Society for Pain Management Nursing (ASPMN) Certification Review Courses, Geriatric Pain Management Courses, and Safety and Monitoring Courses.

Carol Curtiss serves as volunteer clinical educator for a local hospice and is a national trainer for the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC). She served as Co-Project Director for the American Journal of Nursing Project on Long Term Effects in Survivors of Adult Cancers and was an invited participant at the Institute of Medicine’s Invitational Meeting on Developing Survivorship Care Plans held in Washington DC. She is a member of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Cancer Survivors’ Work Group and Palliative Care Work Group. She served as a Reviewer for the Oncology Nursing Society – Statement on the Scope of Standards of Advanced Practice in Oncology Nursing and for the American Pain Society’s Cancer Pain Guidelines. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, the American Pain Society , the American Society for Pain Management Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau, Nursing’s Honor Society.
