Dr Artlett’s research interests have extended to understanding the pathogenesis of the fibrotic disease, systemic sclerosis/scleroderma. Her PhD was obtained while studying this disease under the auspices of Carol M. Black, MD at the Royal Free Hospital in London and Ken Welsh, PhD at the Transplant Center in Oxford, United Kingdom. She specifically moved to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania USA, to perform her post-doctoral fellowship in scleroderma initially with John Varga and then with Sergio Jimenez, when Dr. Varga moved to Chicago. She remained at Thomas Jefferson University with a junior faculty potion researching scleroderma for several years before moving to Drexel University College of Medicine where she continues to research in scleroderma.
