Dr Carlos AC Pedra, is a Chief at the Dante Pazzanese Institute of Cardiology. He was graduated from Santa Casa Medical School in Sao Paulo. He trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care at the University of Sao Paulo, and in Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Diagnostic and Interventional Catheterization at the Instituto Dante Pazzanese de Cardiologia in Sao Paulo. He has been the Director of the Catheterization Laboratory for Congenital Heart Disease at the Instituto Dante Pazzanese, one of the busiest and most important training centers in South America. He also co-directs the Catheterization Laboratory at the Hospital do Coracao in Sao Paulo, a private institution with a busy neonatal program under a philanthropic umbrella sponsored by the Brazilian Ministry of Health and local communities.
spent 18 months at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada training as a clinical fellow in the catheterization laboratory under the mentorship of Dr Lee Benson. In 2004 he concluded his PhD course at Dante Pazzanese and his thesis was on “Stenting of Coarctation of the Aorta in Adolescents and Adults”.Dr Pedra has trained andr proctored several doctors in Brazil and South America, mainly on the use of occlusion devices and stents. He has participated in the organization of some SOLACI (Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology) meetings in South America and at the moment he is the director of the Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease Section of SOLACI.
