Carla Wilson DAOM, PhD, MA, LAc

Dr. Wilson’s background in health care includes 35 years of experience in the practice of acupuncture and Asian medicine, research, and program development in addition to business and organization management, grant writing and fundraising to promote and sustain integrative health centres and educational programs.

From 1996 – 2010, she served as the Executive Director of Quan Yin Healing Arts Center in San Francisco, CA. From 2010- 2016 Dr. Wilson held the position of Dean of the Doctoral Program and Director of Research at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in San Francisco, CA. In 2015, Dr. Wilson earned her PhD at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA. Her background in research is directed toward integrative medicine, acupuncture and herbal medicine with a focus on mixed methods approach. In addition to her PhD, She holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM).

A leader in the field of Asian medicine, Dr. Wilson sat on the Governance Committee for the American Public Health Association (APHA) from 2007- 2012, served as a member of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on International Education Standards for the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) 2010- 2012. She continues to serve as an Executive Committee Member for the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS). Dr. Wilson has specialized expertise in higher education accreditation. She is the past Chair of the Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and served as Interim Executive for the Commission during the executive leadership transition in 2010. Dr. Wilson’s professional and educational background includes many years of the building of bridges between complementary and alternative health practices and Western health care.
