Carla Lema Tome is Director of Research at NeuroInsights where she works with clients on licensing search and evaluation, due diligence, market assessment and start-up formation. She is also an Editor at Neurotech Insights, the monthly investment newsletter focused on drugs, devices, software and diagnostics for the brain and nervous system. Carla maintains an Adjunct Professor's appointment at Wake Forest School of Medicine where she lectures on neurotechnology commercialization, developmental neuroscience and regulatory affairs.

Prior to NeuroInsights, Carla worked at the Georgia Technology Research Corporation where she led industry engagements focused on emerging medical and other technologies with a special emphasis on intellectual property, technology transfer and international contracts. Previously, she was at Wake Forest Innovations where she collaborated with researchers and entrepreneurs on new ways to get therapeutics, vaccines, and medical devices to market faster.

Carla has a PhD in Neurobiology and Anatomy and an MBA, both from Wake Forest University. Carla's postdoctoral fellowship focused on the development of molecularly targeted therapies to combat glioblastoma multiforme at the Department of Neurosurgery, in the Brain Tumor Center of Excellence. She was also research fellow at the Department Experimental Medicine at Lund University in Sweden where she investigated mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease progression. Carla received her BS and MS in Biological Sciences from Florida Institute of Technology.
