Dr. Cara A. Mathews, MD, is a gynecologic oncologist and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is a key faculty member within Brown’s oncology programs and serves as Director of Gynecologic Oncology Research, where she leads efforts to advance clinical and translational studies in women’s cancers.
Dr. Mathews completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island/Brown University, where she also served as Administrative Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She additionally earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science, reflecting her strong foundation in research methodology and clinical investigation.
Clinically, Dr. Mathews specializes in the care of patients with gynecologic malignancies, including ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers, with a particular focus on endometrial cancer. She is actively involved in national cooperative group clinical trials, serving as a principal investigator on studies aimed at improving treatment strategies and patient outcomes.
