Byoung Chul Lee joined Kanaph with over 14 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, most recently having served as Director of New Biologics Research at Santen.
He has vast drug discovery experience across discovery and pre-clinical development programs, protein engineering and biology, PK/PD, and efficacy. At Santen, he led a team focused on developing and overseeing new biologics early-stage research programs for ophthalmology.
Prior to Santen, he was focused on the identification of novel therapeutic targets in various disease areas and the development of therapeutic antibodies at 23andMe. Prior to 23andMe, he spent 6 years developing antibody and ADC therapies including 2nd generation HER2 ADC program and novel antibody conjugate programs for immuno-oncology at Genentech.
He received his Ph.D. and B.S degrees in Biophysics and Biology from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Seoul National University, respectively, and completed his postdoctoral studies at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
