Markl is also director of the Institute for Pathology and Molecular Diagnostics at the University Hospital in Augsburg. In his field, Märkl deals with the development of diseases and the resulting organic and anatomical changes. As an interdisciplinary and basic subject, pathology is essential for the diagnosis and therapy of almost all types of diseases and is therefore a fundamental part of the medical studies that start in Augsburg in autumn 2019.
Prof. Dr. Bruno Markl, born in 1966, studied medicine at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and at the Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU) and received his doctorate in 2000 from the LMU, also in medicine. This was followed by recognition as a specialist in pathology in 2007 and habilitation in the field of pathology at the LMU in 2011. Märkl has been employed at the former Klinikum Augsburg since 2007, most recently as chief physician of the Institute for Pathology and since 2019 as Director of the Institute for Pathology and Molecular Medicine Diagnosis. In 2017 he was appointed adjunct professor at the LMU.
