Brigitta G. Baumert, MD, PhD, is head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at MediClin Robert-Janker Clinic in Bonn and belongs to the Clinical Cooperation Unit Neurooncology University Bonn Medical Centre, Germany. Dr. Baumert earned her medical degree at the university in Freiburg, Germany. She completed residencies in surgery, internal medicine, rheumatology, gynecologic oncology and diagnostic radiology, and trained in radiation oncology in Switzerland. For her specialization in neuro-oncology and stereotactic radiotherapy, she later spent time as a research fellow at the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and in 2000 at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, England. She holds a MD from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universitaet, Freiburg Germany and a MD PhD from the Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands. Dr. Baumert is associate professor at the Dept. Radiation-Oncology (MAASTRO) and the Maastricht University in The Netherlands.

Dr. Baumert is an active investigator and teacher in the area of stereotactic radiotherapy and neuro-oncology. Further areas of interest are technical developments such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy and new diagnostic imaging tools (eg. PET-CT, fMRI). She is principal investigator of the EORTC joint trial with the ROG, BTG, MRC, TROG and NCI-Canada on the treatment of patients with a low-grade glioma and as co-investigator for the joint EORTC trial with the EORTC-BTG/-ROG, RTOG, MRC-CTU, NCIC-CTG, COGNO on concurrent and adjuvant Temozolomide chemotherapy in NON-1p/19q deleted anaplastic glioma.

The recipient of several grants and awards, Dr. Baumert belongs to many professional societies including the European Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation and Oncology, the Swiss Society of Medical Radiology, and the European Association of Neuro-Oncology. From 2003 to 2009 and since 2014 she is elected chairman of the Brain Tumor Working Party of the EORTC Radiation Oncology Group. From 2009 - 2015 she was the secretary of the EORTC Brain Tumor Group. She has authored or coauthored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, clinical papers, and book chapters. A frequently invited lecturer, she has delivered more than 150 oral presentations, posters, proceedings, and abstracts at medical international conferences and symposia.
