Brigid Boland, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist who treats people with inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, indeterminate colitis and microscopic colitis, as well as other conditions. As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Boland trains medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She also conducts research on biomarkers in inflammatory bowel disease. Her work has appeared in publications, including Gastroenterology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gut, and Journal of Crohn's and Colitis. Dr. Boland completed an advanced fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she also did a fellowship in gastroenterology and a residency in internal medicine. She earned her medical degree from UC San Francisco. She is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

She is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Dr. Boland was named to “Top 50 in 50 Years" by the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Greater San Diego and Desert Area. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Greater San Diego and Desert Region, and as chair of the Medical Advisory Committee in San Diego. In her free time, she likes to run, spend time with her sons, and enjoy the San Diego sun.
