Brian M. Buchanan MD, MMed, FRCPC

Dr. Brian Buchanan is an intensivist, internist, and transport/flight physician who is active in a wide range of critical care/point-of-care ultrasound applications. He practices primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital in the General Systems Intensive Care Unit. He has completed fellowship training in critical care ultrasound including trans-thoracic/esophageal echocardiography, vascular, lung, and trauma ultrasound. Dr. Buchanan is a Diplomate of the National Board of Echocardiography (Examination of Special Competence in Critical Care Echocardiography). His clinical and research interests include medical education, curriculum development, critical care ultrasonography, and quality assurance. Brian is also the Associate Chair for Critical Care Ultrasound and Simulation.
