Brian Ensor trained initially in General Practice, and has been involved with hospices & palliative care since 1987, when he started with Te Omanga Hospice in Lower Hutt. Since then he has worked as the Medical Director of North Shore Hospice, and is now at Mary Potter Hospice in Wellington.
As Director of Palliative Care, he is involved in the research, education and quality aspects of the hospice service, with a strategic as well as a clinical focus. His research publications have been on the use of sedatives and opioids in the last 24 hours of life.
