Brian Chanpong DDS, MSc

Brian Chanpong, DDS MSc (Dental Anesthesia) completed his undergraduate dental degree at the University of Southern California and a three-year hospital-based residency in anesthesia at the University of Toronto. He is the past president of the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, has served on the board of directors for the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists. At the Faculty of Dentistry, University of British Columbia, he is the course director for local anesthesia and sedation.

In 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017 he received the part-time faculty teaching award from the Faculty of Dentistry, UBC and in 2014 was given the Award of Merit from the College of Dental Surgeons of BC. In 2016, he was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Chanpong has lectured nationally and internationally on local anesthesia, sedation and general anesthesia for dentistry. In his hometown of Vancouver, BC, he maintains an out-patient anesthesia clinic that provides general anesthesia and sedation services for dentists. Most importantly, he is a very proud father of two wonderful boys!
