Bret S. Bissey MBA, FACHE

Bret Bissey is Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer at Gateway Health. Bret is responsible for the Medicare and Medicaid Compliance programs including federal and state regulatory matters. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), and Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA).

Bret previously served as Senior Vice President, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), where he was credited with successfully reengineering the nation’s largest sector compliance and ethics program under a rigorous Corporate Integrity Agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG).

In 2006, Bret authored a book titled, The Compliance Officer’s Handbook, and has presented at more than 100 regional and national industry conferences and meetings on numerous compliance topics. He has over 30 years of diversified health care management experience.

Bret earned his MBA from Wilkes University and received his BSBA from Shippensburg University.
