Brenda Wands PhD, CRNA

Dr. Brenda Wands, CRNA, Ph.D. joined the VCU Department of Nurse Anesthesia in September 2015 as the new Director of Inter-professional Education. In this role, Dr. Wands works collaboratively across disciplines within as well as beyond VCU focusing on patient safety initiatives related to anesthesia delivery. Dr. Wands teaches MSNA, DNAP and Ph.D. students and plans to expand her current clinical research. Dr. Wands was most recently an Assistant Professor at Bloomsburg University and Program Director for the Geisinger Health System/Bloomsburg University Nurse Anesthesia Program. As a CRNA for 22 years, Dr. Wands also received her MBA and Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration. Her research interests include ethics and adult education.
