Dr Brankica has obtained her MD, M.Sc and Ph.D at Medical School at University of Belgrade, Serbia. She finished first Paediatrics Specialisation and thereafter Neonatology sub-specialisation and has overall clinical experience of more than 22 years. She has experience as Consultant Neonatologist of more than 6 years in Serbia (Clinical Center of Serbia) and 3 years as lecturer in Neonatology in Medical School at University of Belgrade She is also PALS and NRP certified. She has done advanced courses including Intensive Abdominal Course, ISOUG Course for Fetal Neurosonography, Echocardiography and Syndromes, Intensive Fetal Cardiology Course, Perinatal Masterclass - Advances Course in Perinatal Cardiology. Neonatal and Paediatric Ventilation Course and Baby Friendly Initiative-UNICEF. She had training at the Alexandar Hospital, Iaso Hospital and Elena Hospital in Athens (Greece), Morgan Children’s Hospital in New York (USA), General Hospital of Salzburg in Salzburg (Austria) and Regional Hospital (LKH-Landeskrankenhaus) in Graz (Austria).

She has more than 35 international publications in international indexed journals (47 citations) and 5 chapters in various fields of neonatal medicine. She also has more than 30 presentations to her credit out of which 10 are in international conferences. Her areas of expertise include Neonatal Resuscitation and Neuroprotection, All aspects of neonatal invasive and non-invasive ventilation with lung protection, Hemodynamic assessment and support (including cranial, abdominal and lung ultrasound and neonatal echocardiography) critical ill newborn and Early diagnosis congenital anomalies.

She won the ESPNIC (European Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care) award at 5th World Congress on Pediatric Critical Care. She was a local coordinator for International Neonatal Immunotherapy Study-INIS for Serbia and Montenegro and participated in SIOP 93-01, ITP and Twin Birth studies. She is in Editorial Board of the journal "Pediatrics and Neonatal Nursing: Open Access" and member of Associate Editors of the "Journal of Pediatrics & Neonatal Care". She is a member of South East European Society of Perinatal Medicine, Serbian American Medical Association, European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care and European Academy of Paediatric Society. Dr. Brankica can communicate fluently in Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian, English.
