Dr. Winchester specializes in regional anesthesia at the Andrews Institute. In Dr. Winchester’s previous roles he served as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at both Duke University Medical Center, and the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Winchester attended the University of California at Los Angeles where he earned his undergraduate degree, and the University of Virginia School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree. Following his education he took on a transitional intern role at Boston University Medical Center and later finished a residency in anesthesiology at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Duke University Medical Center.

He has studied molecular cardiology focusing on the role of the AUF-1 protein on intracellular signaling pathways for the University of Colorado Health Science Center. He has also evaluated the benefits of videoconferencing during informed consent process in clinical anesthesia research. In addition to research, Dr. Winchester has published an article in the ASRA Newsletter on regional anesthesia and live web video education.

Dr. Winchester was a member of the regional anesthesia division at Duke, where he specialized in ultrasound-guided nerve block. He was Chair of the Duke Anesthesia Web Video Education division where he focused on innovative methods for utilizing live and on-demand interactive web video to enhance medical education for Duke medical students and residents, as well as post-graduate anesthesiologists. He is currently on the National Medical Advisory Board for the Institute for Advanced Medical Education (IAME) and Coarse Director for hands-on ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia CME workshops.
