Dr. Meaney is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Division Head of Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University as well as a pediatric neurologist at McMaster Children's Hospital. He is certified in both Pediatrics and Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Following his graduation from McGill University's Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Meaney received his post-graduate training in Pediatrics at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then trained in Child Neurology at the University of Toronto prior to accepting a faculty position at McMaster in 1998.

In addition to running a busy clinical pediatric neurology service, Dr. Meaney has been repeatedly recognized for his outstanding contributions to medical education at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
