Dr. Bradley E. Chipps received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1972 and was a pediatric resident for two years before serving in the Air Force at Ellsworth AFB (South Dakota) for two years as a general pediatrician. A combined allergy and pulmonary fellowship at Johns Hopkins followed, with one year on the faculty in the pediatric respiratory sciences division.

He has been in private practice in Sacramento since 1979 and serves as the Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy and the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Sutter Medical Center. He also is the Associate Medical Director of the Sutter Community Hospital’s Sleep Laboratory, which he established in 1984. Dr. Chipps is board certified in pediatric pulmonology and allergy and clinical immunology. He is a member of all the major societies associated with respiratory medicine and has served on the Program Committees for the American Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

Dr. Chipps’ special interests include clinical research and lecturing, which have been an increasing part of his practice in the last 10 years. Current research projects include developing protocols to assess and treat acute, severe asthma – specifically, investigating factors associated with continued symptomatology and airflow limitation in severe persistent asthma.
