Dr. Boris Jung received his medical degree from the Universite Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. He is board-certified in critical care medicine, a specialty in France. He completed a four-year fellowship in the ICUs in Montpellier and earned a PhD in respiratory muscle physiology, with a focus on diaphragmatic dysfunction in critically ill patients.
After completing his PhD, Dr. Jung worked as a postdoctoral student at the Meakins Christie laboratory at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, where he continued his research on diaphragmatic dysfunction. He has co-authored over 125 peer-reviewed publications on respiratory muscles, as well as various other ICU topics of interest such as acid-base balance, airway management, mechanical ventilation, and infections in the ICU.
In 2017, he obtained a Professorship position in Critical Care Medicine at Montpellier University. Currently, Dr. Jung is a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine, and practices critical care medicine with the Pulmonary, Sleep, and Critical Care Medicine Division at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, USA.
