Boris Gorovits, Ph.D., leads the In Vitro Pharmacology, Biomarker Discovery, and Bioanalytical team at Sana Biotechnology, Inc., a group responsible for providing critical research and preclinical and clinical data for a range of gene and cellular therapies. Previously Gorovits worked at Pfizer where he built and led teams focused on the support of discovery and regulated bioanalysis of biotherapeutics, covering a variety of modalities, including monoclonal monospecific and polyspecific antibodies, enzyme replacement therapies, antibody-drug conjugates, chimeric proteins, and gene and cell therapeutics. Gorovits has been instrumental in delivering critical data that enabled the success of many non-clinical and clinical programs, studies, and regulatory filings. Gorovits served as a co-chair of the Pfizer Immunogenicity Expert group and is well recognized internally and as an industry-wide expert in detecting, assessing, and interpreting immunogenicity responses against various biotherapeutic modalities.

Gorovits has strong connections across the industry, U.S. and E.U. included, and has been a very active participant in AAPS, the European Bioanalytical Forum (EBF), and the European Immunoassay Platform. Gorovits has built strong ties with various groups within the biotherapeutic development communities, including bioanalytical, the immunogenicity of biotherapeutics, gene and cell therapy development, and contract research organizations. Gorovits received his master’s degree in chemistry and doctorate in enzymology from the Moscow State University of Moscow, Russia. Prior to starting his industrial career, Gorovits completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas, Health Science Center in San Antonio with Professor Paul Horowitz. Gorovits focused his postdoctoral work on studying mechanisms of protein folding in general and with the help of bacterial chaperons GroEL and GroES. Gorovits was lucky to work with a group of excellent scientists and is proud to have published manuscripts that are cited 20+ years later.
