Prof. Dr. Boris Fehse is Professor for Cell and Gene Therapy and Head of the Research Dept. Cell and Gene Therapy within the Dept. of Stem Cell Transplantation of the University Medical Center (UMC) Hamburg-Eppendorf. Prior to joining the UMC Hamburg he held an appointment as Professor for Experimental Pediatric Oncology and Hematology at the University Hospital of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt. Prof. Fehse graduated in Biomedicine at the Russian State Medical University of Moscow, Russia (German MD in Theoretical Medicine) and obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology at the Heinrich-Pette-Institute and the University of Hamburg. He did postdoctoral training at the Bone Marrow Transplantation Center of the UMC Hamburg and spent a research period abroad at the NIH in Bethesda, USA, after having received a grant of the German American Academic Council (GAAC).
