Bill Foege

Dr. Bill Foege has been a leader in global health since the 1970s, when he worked in the successful campaign to eradicate smallpox. Since then, he has helped form the international Task Force for Child Survival, been Director of the CDC, served as Executive Director of the Carter Center, served as faculty at Emory University and the University of Washington, and served as a Senior Medical Advisor for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2012, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His book House on Fire: The Fight to Eradicate Smallpox was published in 2011.
