Bilal Bawamia MBBS, MRCP, PGDip

Dr Bilal Bawamia is a consultant interventional cardiologist at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, specialising in percutaneous coronary interventions. He graduated from Newcastle University in 2010 with Distinction and completed his postgraduate cardiology training in the North East, and has a Doctor of Medicine research degree from Newcastle University. He then went on to undertake a complex coronary intervention fellowship in Dublin before starting his consultant post at the Freeman Hospital in 2022. He is experienced in treating patients with complex coronary artery disease and has an interest in intravascular imaging, coronary calcium modification, and chronic total occlusions. He is active in research and education.
