Mr Alkhaffaf qualified from the University of Manchester in 2003 and completed his surgical training in the North West of England. He has a specialist interest in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery and has expanded his experience in this field by visiting international centres of excellence in the United States, South Korea and The Netherlands. This expertise was important in developing the minimally invasive surgery programme for oesophago-gastric cancer at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Mr Alkhaffaf has set up an international fellowship programme at Manchester Royal Infirmary for senior training surgeons wishing to expand their experience of minimally invasive oesophago-gastric surgery.
