Bilal Ahmed graduated medical school from Lahore, Pakistan in 1987. He soon moved to the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom to complete his internal Medicine training. He trained in Pulmonary Medicine, and his main area of interest was epidemiology of Asthma.
After attaining a consultancy in the NHS in UK, he moved to the USA and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York. He worked as an Internist in Geneseo, New York, after completing his chief resident year and then moved back to Highland Hospital. He is presently the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Rochester and the Associate Chief of Medicine at Highland Hospital. He is closely involved with resident and medical student education and has received more than 30 teaching awards from the University in the last 10 years.
