Dr. Bibhuti Bhusan Das, MD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and A Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Cardiologist at The Texas Children’s Hospital. After receiving his undergraduate degree in pre-medicine from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, India, in 1985, Das earned his M.B.B.S. at M.K.C.G. Medical College in 1990. He then had residency training in pharmacology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, from 1991-92 and residency training in pediatrics at S.M.S. Medical College, Jaipur, India, from 1993-96. He was a senior resident in hematology and oncology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences from 1997-98.
Das came to the U.S. in 1998 and had residency training in internal medicine at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, from 1998-99 and residency training in pediatrics at Lincoln and Mental Health Center, Bronx, New York, from 1999-2001. He then had fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at the Heart Institute for Children, University of Illinois, Chicago, from 2001-02, and fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at the Children's Hospital of Colorado, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, from 2002-04.
He joined the University of Louisville, Kentucky, as a medical director of the heart failure and transplant program and as an assistant professor of pediatrics in 2004 and earned promotion there to associate professor of pediatrics in 2010. He served as an associate professor of pediatrics at Children's Health, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, from 2011-17. He served as medical director of the pediatric heart failure and transplant program at Children's Medical Center from 2013-17. Subsequently, he joined the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Heart Institute, Memorial Health Care, Hollywood, Florida, as a pediatric heart failure and transplant cardiologist, in 2017, and became associate professor of pediatrics and pediatric and adult congenital heart disease cardiologist at Texas Children's Hospital in 2019.
Editorial board member for Children's M.D.P.I., Basel, Switzerland, Case Reports in Pediatrics, Hindawi, and a journal reviewer for several professional publications, Das is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology and is an active member of several national and international organizations. A highly sought speaker, he has given 18 invited lectures and national and international presentations. The author or co-author of 94 articles in peer-reviewed professional journals and three book chapters, he has helped garner more than $450,000 in research support for projects centered mainly on pediatric cardiovascular disease.
