Bharat Sutariya, MD, FACEP, vice president and chief medical officer, population health, is responsible for leading population health innovation strategy, and solution design for Cerner. In this capacity, he collaborates with leaders across the company and industry to enhance Cerner’s industry leading Population Health Platform and solutions. These capabilities enable Cerner to provide comprehensive set of solutions to health care delivery systems, employers, government and sponsors of healthcare across the globe to meet diverse needs in this dynamic era of health care transformation.

Dr. Sutariya is a thought leader within Cerner and across broader health care industry on population health management and shared accountability between consumers, providers and payers. Dr. Sutariya is a strong advocate of big data driven innovation in healthcare with special interest in advanced clinical intelligence and healthcare economics. He leads internal Cerner and client collaboration teams to develop solutions in population health management by integrating near real-time analytics, risk and impactability predictions.

Dr. Sutariya has played a key role in Cerner’s Lighthouse and Executable Knowledge® strategy, including designing clinical content and process improvement solutions that enable physicians, nurses and other clinicians in delivering evidence-based care. Dr. Sutariya joined Cerner in 2004. Prior roles include the physician executive for acute care strategy, as well as managing director responsible for Cerner’s emergency medicine enterprise. Prior to joining Cerner, Dr. Sutariya was at Detroit Medical Center (DMC), leading healthcare information technology implementation and clinical transformation across this integrated delivery network.

He was also on faculty as clinical assistant profession at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Sutariya earned his medical degree from Wayne State University. He also has bachelors and master’s degrees in biology from Wayne State. He trained in Emergency Medicine at the residency program of Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.
