Betty S. Chu, MD, MBA, has been appointed as Henry Ford Health System's (HFHS) new Associate Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Quality Officer.

Doctor Chu begins her Chief Quality Officer role immediately and will transition into the Associate Chief Clinical Officer position from her current role as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.

As Associate Chief Clinical Officer, she will align and enhance the performance of clinical services across the enterprise; defining models of care including setting clinical standards to drive consistency of quality, value, and patient experience across HFHS's continuum of care; driving physician engagement; and promoting alignment of clinical and academic missions in collaboration with leaders of the Henry Ford Medical Group (FMG) and the Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group.

As Chief Quality Officer, Doctor Chu will provide strategic and operational leadership for the System's quality and safety initiatives and for performance measurement, reporting, and continuous performance improvement. This includes responsibility for overall quality, safety, and appropriate regulatory activities as well as the development and oversight of a comprehensive quality/performance improvement program.

Doctor Chu is the current President of the Michigan State Medical Society, serves as a Delegate from Michigan to the American Medical Association (AMA), and was elected to the AMA's Council on Medical Service. She has served on numerous boards including the Area Agency on Aging 1B and Walsh College School of Business.

She graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and received her Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan Ross Business School.
