Beth A. Mccormick PhD

Beth A. McCormick, PhD, is a professor and chair of the Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems at UMass Chan Medical School. She carries a career-long interest in understanding the mechanisms behind intestinal pathophysiology, especially in the context of inflammatory bowel disease and enteric infections. McCormick’s research aims to uncover the interactions between the gut microbiota and intestinal epithelium with a goal of identifying potential therapeutic targets for managing intestinal inflammatory disorders. Her most recent work focuses on the cross-talk between the gut microbiome and the intestinal epithelia in the regulation of intestinal multidrug efflux transporters and downstream effects on nuclear factors.
