Prof. Dr. habil. Bernhard Elsner has been a Professor of Therapy Sciences and Head of Physiotherapy at the Ernst Abbe University Jena since October 1st, 2022. From 2008 to 2014 he worked as a practical physiotherapist at the Neuromuscular Therapy Center in Dresden. In February 2009 he graduated from the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences with a Bachelor of Science degree in physiotherapy and received his doctorate in June 2014. re. doctor at the Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus of the Technical University of Dresden, where he also habilitated in 2021. In 2021, he started a supplementary master's degree in medical informatics at the University of Leipzig.
Prof. Dr. Bernhard Elsner is an author for the non-profit Cochrane Collaboration, an international organization dedicated to advancing evidence-based medicine. His research interests lie in the field of research into the effectiveness of neurological rehabilitation using quantitative methods. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Public Health and Prevention and Health Promotion. He is a board member of the German Society for Physiotherapy Science (DGPTW) and the German Society for Neurotraumatology and Clinical Neurorehabilitation (DGNKN).
