Bernd C. Steffens PhD

Bernd Steffens is currently Director and Head Global Clinical Trial Supplies Unit at Boehringer Ingelheim, based in Biberach, Germany. Since 1993, he held various functions in the Clinical Trial Supplies area with a focus on Supply Chain Management in general and the development of computerized systems to support this as well as outsourcing strategies, new supply chain strategies and expanding these to emerging markets.

Before that, from 1991, he was leading the process development labs in API manufacture at Boehringer Ingelheim, Biberach. He is a chemist by profession with a diploma and Ph.D. from the Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum. He is a member of ISPE and the European Investigational Products Community of Practice Steering Committee since 1996, serving as chairperson for some years. He has presented various items to the pharmaceutical industry.
