Bernadette (Bernie) Pauly, RN, BScN, MN, PhD, is an associate professor in the school of nursing at the University of Victoria and a scientist in the Centre for Addictions Research in British Columbia. She is a nurse in the tradition of Florence Nightingale who believes that the focus of nursing is in the health of the community.

In 2011, Dr. Pauly, received recognition as a City of Victoria honorary citizen and was the recipient of a University of Victoria Community Leadership Award. Dr. Pauly has contributed to improving the quality of health care in Canada and to changing people’s lives.

She is an outstanding nurse researcher and educator, a visionary leader as well as a strong advocate for all those she serves and researches with, and will continue to be a key player in shaping health care and nursing practice in British Columbia and in Canada.
