Benoy Shah MD, BSc, MBBS, MRCP

Benoy Shah is a consultant cardiologist at Southampton General Hospital. His subspecialist interests are in cardiovascular imaging (specifically advanced echocardiography) and valvular heart disease. Dr Shah graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2002. During this time, he undertook an intercalated BSc degree in Cardiovascular Medicine, which he obtained with First Class Honours. His junior doctor training was spread across Oxford, London and the Wessex region. During his training, he took up a 3-year Research Fellow position at The Royal Brompton and Northwick Park hospitals in London in which he undertook an MD with Imperial College. He also obtained extensive experience in stress, contrast and 3D-echocardiography. He completed his training with the Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship in Southampton.

He holds British accreditation in trans-thoracic and trans-oesophageal echocardiography. He teaches regularly on regional and national echocardiography courses and co-founded the Southampton Trans-oesophageal Echocardiography Exam Revision (STEER) course.
