Bengt Herweg MD

Dr. Bengt Herweg is the Medical Director of the TGH Electrophysiology Center of Excellence. He also is a professor and cardiologist at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Herweg received his medical degree from Fachbereich Medizin, University of Essen and completed his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center. He completed his training with cardiovascular disease and electrophysiology fellowships at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Herweg is board certified in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Herweg has published more than 125 peer-reviewed papers in multiple international medical journals. Herweg et al. authored a 2020 review of cardiac resynchronization and conduction system pacing entitled, “The Evolution of cardiac resynchronization therapy and an Introduction to conduction system pacing: a conceptual Review,” and published by The European Society of Cardiology. It is considered to be among the most impactful publications of its kind in the field.
