Ben G.L. Vanneste is a clinician: radiation oncologist, and brachytherapist. He was taught radiation oncology at the NKI-AvL, Amsterdam, and AMC (Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He did a fellowship in brachytherapy in Gustave Roussy, in Villejuif, France. He obtained a PhD in rectum spacers. He is the chair and principal investigator of the brachytherapy and urology unit at the UZ Ghent University, and also a consultant brachytherapy @ the MAASTRO (Radiation Oncology). His main research activities: Rectum-Spacing in prostate cancer, Patient Decision aids, Personalized treatments, Brachytherapy prostate cancer (LDR-HDR), Stereotactic Radiotherapy, and Immunotherapy. He is a co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is also involved in the teaching program for residents of radiation oncology, and in teaching transperineal procedures (spacer implantation, brachy procedures, biopsies) for radiation oncologists.
