Benjamin Ackerman, Ph.D. is currently, is a Principal Statistician on the Statistical Modeling and Methodology team at Janssen Research & Development, conducting simulation-based methods research for combining data from randomized trials and observational studies.
Ackerman earned his Ph.D. in Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where he was advised by Dr. Elizabeth Stuart. His dissertation research focused on statistical methods for generalizing findings from randomized trials to a target population and transporting measurement error correction from validation studies to intervention trials. His applied public health interests also include oncology, mental health, and LGBTQ+ health. He is also a former Data Science for Social Good Fellow, where he worked with an interdisciplinary team to build a predictive model for an individual’s risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
