Beiyun Chen MD

Beiyun Chen, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, specializing in breast pathology, gynecologic pathology, and surgical pathology. Her clinical expertise includes the diagnosis of benign and malignant breast diseases, breast cancer pathology, gynecologic tumors, and complex surgical pathology cases. She is dedicated to providing accurate, pathology-based diagnoses that guide personalized treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Chen earned her medical degree and Ph.D. before completing advanced residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, followed by fellowship training in Surgical Pathology and Breast/Gynecologic Pathology. She currently serves as an Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic, where she combines clinical practice with teaching and translational research.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Chen is an accomplished investigator whose research focuses on breast cancer pathology, biomarkers, molecular pathology, digital pathology, and improving diagnostic accuracy in breast and gynecologic diseases. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and collaborates on multidisciplinary research aimed at advancing precision diagnostics and cancer care. As an educator and mentor, she is actively involved in training pathology residents and fellows while contributing to innovations in laboratory medicine and oncologic pathology.
