Beata Malachowska M.D. is a PhD student in Department of Biostatistics and Translational Medicine (Medical University of Lodz) and Postgraduate School of Molecular Medicine (Medical University of Warsaw) under the supervision of prof. Wojciech Fendler (2016 ISPAD Young Investigator Award). She graduated from Medical University of Lodz, Medical Faculty in 2014. Her Ph.D. thesis concerns usage of metabolomics studies in pediatric diabetes field and is entitled Metabolomic profiling of acute diabetes complication among children with type 1 diabetes. In order to advance her skills and understanding of research methodology she participated in many scientific courses e.g. Post-graduate Course in Biostatistics (2015-2016), 7th Minkowski EASD Advanced Postgraduate Course in Clinical Diabetes, ISPAD Research School for Physicians (2017) and Postgraduate Course in Medical Statistics (2015).
Her scientific work started in 2011 at the Polish Registry for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes project coordinated by prof. Wojciech Mlynarski (2008 ISPAD Young Investigator Award) – a leader in the field of pediatric diabetology in Poland. She continued her work in the field, with particular focus on HNF1B-MODY and its pathogenesis and recently expanded with her skills onto the field of transcriptomic and metabolomics biomarkers. However, her scientific interests encompass also to oncology, radiotherapy and epigenetics.
