Basil Matta BA, BAO, BChMB, FRCA

Dr. Basil Matta is the past Divisional Director for Musculoskeletal, Digestive Diseases, Major Trauma, and Perioperative Care Medicine at Cambridge University Hospitals, where he is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, and Associate lecturer at the University of Cambridge. He has clinical and managerial experience at the local, national and international levels, and have held leadership roles at a number of National and International Medical Societies - President of the Neuroanaesthesia Society of Great Britain & Ireland and President of the Society of International Neuroanaesthesia & Critical Care. He had served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology and Critical Care and the European Journal of Anaesthesiology and is the author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications.

He is a regular speaker and moderator at international events which include those at the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the European Society of Anaesthesiology, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, several other national societies, and Arab Health. In October 2020, he took up the role of Senior Medical Director for Masimo International.
